The Melba Foundation is a memorial scholarship and organization to honor Melba DeJoya Alcazar, a legendary Filipina immigrant that blessed and uplifted the lives surrounding her. She came to America in the 60s to pursue the American dream of that time. Not only did she make that dream come true, she made that dream happen for her friends and family that traveled here from the Philippines. Her philanthropic generosity, support and encouragement positively beamed through every person she met. She has helped hundreds of people establish themselves and made sure to give back to her community in Romblon, Philippines.
Unfortunately, Melba passed away from metastatic breast cancer in 2014, leaving everyone heartbroken. That was the year the idea for the Melba Foundation was born. It wasn't until October 2022 the idea came into fruition.
The Melba Foundation's mission is to continue on this legacy by offering scholarships to students lacking funding for music lessons/education with an emphasis on underserved communities. The foundation also donates school supplies and music equipment to schools interested in investing into their music program with an emphasis on the schools in Romblon, Romblon Philippines, Melba's hometown at the moment. Through music concert production, fundraisers and music events, the Melba Foundation's goal is to keep music alive by keeping music education accessible and within reach.
The Melba Foundation is currently seeking volunteers. If you would like to get involved email: contact@themelbafoundation.org or send your contact info through https://themelbafoundation.org/contact
We're always looking for passionate individuals who believe in the power of music education.
